In the worldwide, there are hundreds of marathons held in a year and you even can’t remember top 10 competitions in the world. However, you must hear about the Patriot Day. Why this day is related to the Boston Marathon? Let’s know more about it.
On April 16, 2018, it was my second time to attend the Boston Marathon as an audience cheering for every runner. As a sports lover, I really love Boston because we have Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins. We have tons sports activities that you can enjoy each sport in four seasons.
Patriot Day = Boston Marathon
Patriots' Day is an official state holiday commemorating the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the American Revolutionary War. The most significant celebration of Patriots' Day is the Boston Marathon, which has been run every Patriots' Day since April 19, 1897, to mark the then-recently established holiday, with the race linking the Athenian and American struggles for liberty.

Patriot Day (Film)
Patriots Day is a 2016 American crime drama-thriller film about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and the subsequent terrorist manhunt. Directed by Peter Berg and written by Berg, Matt Cook, and Joshua Zetumer, the film is based on the book Boston Strong by Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge. It stars Mark Wahlberg, J. K. Simmons, John Goodman, Kevin Bacon, and Michelle Monaghan.
Boston Slogan
"Boston Strong" is a slogan that was created as part of the reaction to the Boston Marathon bombing in April 2013. It is a variation on the term Livestrong, which was created in 2004. It has been placed on various kinds of merchandise after the phrase became popular, as well as gained criticism from various entities. The use of the term in Boston has led to similar phrases entering public discourse, such as America Strong.
In the 122nd Boston Marathon, 29978 runners participated in this competition. The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has organized this event since 1897, and it has been managed by DMSE Sports, Inc. since 1988. Amateur and professional runners from all over the world compete in the Boston Marathon each year, braving the hilly Massachusetts terrain and varying weather to take part in the race.
As you can see in the photo, the incremental weather didn't destroy the faith of runners, also the audiences. The marathon will cover 26.2 miles, beginning on Main Street in Hopkinton, Mass., and ending in Boston, near the Prudential tower. The course begins downhill and follows Route 135 until merging with Route 16 in Wellesley around the halfway marker.
Near the finish line, you can see a lots runner cover with the raincoat printed with Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) and Sponsor's logo in it. I super admire these runners because of their perseverance. I hope next year to see more runners and audiences in the 123rd Boston Marathon. Definitely, I will cheer up for you.
