Giving Your Taste Buds A Treat

    Author : Abhinav Bountra

Hi friends,  in my first blog I told you that I am from India. I also told you that I am a big foodie and l love Indian food as well as food from the subcontinent (neighboring South East Asian Countries). In this blog, I will be mentioning about some really nice restaurants in and around Boston, comprising of cuisines from the subcontinent.

1) Kashmir
In my first month in Boston one day, I was having craving for tasty Indian food. One of my Indian friends who grew up here in Boston not only advised, but also took me to an Indian restaurant along with other classmates. She took me to this restaurant named "Kashmir" which is situated on the upscale Newbury Street. I could sense that the restaurant was really famous and a good one too, since we had to wait for 20 minutes to get a table and the beautiful ambiance and aroma of Indian spices in the air there, brought a big smile on my face. The restaurant "Kashmir" did not disappoint us. The food was delicious, service was great the decor was too good. Since then, I have been to this restaurant many times. We usually sit indoors and the ambiance inside is enhanced by the Indian calligraphy and a blend of classic and contemporary Indian art. I have taken a lot of my American and other International friends to this restaurant. Their tandoori chicken, tandoori lamb, Tikka masala (paneer/chicken) and garlic naan had been a hit among me and my friends. Hence I would recommend this restaurants to all those who love Indian Food.

2) Mayuri

India is a big country. Hence there are a number of different food cuisines. I am from north part of the country. Once I arrived in Boston for my MBA, I met and became friends with a lot of people from southern part of India. One of my friends from south India brought me to this restaurant named "Mayuri" which is situated in Quincy. My experience at this restaurant was great. If you want to have tasty and spicy South Indian Food, I would definitely recommend you this restaurant. One of their most famous dish is a rice specialty named "Hyderabadi  Biryani" (can be served with chicken, lamb, goat, vegetables). One can also choose the spice level as per individual taste and preference. So far I have been to Mayuri a lot of times and everything i have tried there (appetizers, main course, rice specialty etc) has been delicious. One of there famous beverage named "Mango Lassi" is a hit among the locals as well.

3) Darul Kabab

Boston is a diverse city. There are a lot of students from the subcontinent here. One of my friends from Bangladesh recommended me this place. From the reviews we came to know that Darul Kabab is a good place to have delicious Bengali food. This place is neat and clean. One good thing about this place is that it offers A la carte as well as buffet. The weekdays lunch buffet costs around $12.99 per person whereas the weekend lunch buffet costs approx $16.99 per person. Unlike most of the restaurants in and around Boston, Darul Kabab offers dinner buffet on Wednesdays for $19.99 per person. The fact that they offer dinner buffet and that too at such reasonable price is surprising. One good news for students, you get $2 off on buffet's price if you show them your student ID. Hence don't forget to take your ID cards, when you go there. I have heard good reviews about this restaurant, so friends feel free to share your experience at this restaurant, once you go there.

4) Darbar

I went to this restaurant a few days back only and i was mesmerized by the delicious food served here. If you like Indo-Pak food cuisine, then I would strongly recommend you this place. The dishes here are very reasonably priced and the staff is very friendly and understanding. The dishes here are served in good quantity unlike other restaurants in and around Boston. My favorite dish from this place is Goat Paya and Karahi ( Goat or chicken or vegetables cooked in tomatoes, onions and garlic in a special sauce). I also took some of my classmates and Asian friends to this restaurants for dinner and they loved each and every food item we ordered, specially their "Naan". I personally recommend this restaurant to you all.
