Boston Opera House
The Boston Opera House is a performing arts venue located at 539 Washington St. in Boston, Massachusetts. Originally built as a movie palace, it opened on October 29, 1928, and was rededicated in 1980 as a home for the Opera Company of Boston. Completely restored in 2004, the theater currently serves as the home of the Boston Ballet and also presents touring Broadway shows.
Inside the building, the decoration and internal design are awesome. Here are some pictures I took when I went to The Nutcracker’s ballet.
In the following, I pick five interesting broadway, that will be held or had been held at Boston Opera House.
Aladdin
Opening July 05, 2018
Closing August 05, 2018
Time: 2 Hours and 30 Minutes.
Aladdin is a musical based on the 1992 Disney animated film of the same name with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, and Chad Beguelin. Beguelin also wrote the book. The musical includes three songs written for the film by Ashman but not used there and four new songs written by Menken and Beguelin.
The story follows the familiar tale of a poor young man who is granted three wishes by a genie in a lamp, which he uses to woo a princess and to thwart the sultan's evil Grand Vizier. Set in the fictional Arabian city of Agrabah, the characters and setting are Middle Eastern. The animated version was celebrated as Disney’s first to feature non-white protagonists. However, the anglicisation of Aladdin and Jasmine drew attention to Disney’s lack of authentic representation of ethnically diverse characters.
This is one of the musical show I want to watch because Aladdin is also one classic story from Disney. I really love the character of Jasmine. She’s so lovely and wisdom princess in Disney series. So, definitely, I will go to watch Aladdin when the show comes to Boston.
The Nutcracker Ballet
Opening November 29, 2018
Closing December 30, 2018
Time: 2 Hours
The Nutcracker is a two-act ballet, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The libretto is adapted from E. T. A. Hoffmann's story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King", by way of Alexandre Dumas' adapted story "The Nutcracker". It was given its premiere at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg on Sunday, December 18, 1892, on a double-bill with Tchaikovsky's opera Iolanta.
In the show, there are two Act, including three scenes. The dancers were remarkably skilled, dancing piece after piece without error and with amazing grace. The costumes were gorgeous and the venue stunning. If you’re still thinking ballet is so boring, you ought to attend The Nutcracker Ballet that will bring an amazing night to you. Besides, Nutcracker Bear is my favorite actor in this show.
Waitress

Time 2 Hours And 30 Minutes
The waitress is a musical with music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson. The musical is based on the 2007 film of the same name, written by Adrienne Shelly. It tells the story of Jenna Hunterson, a waitress in an abusive relationship with her husband Earl. When Jenna unexpectedly becomes pregnant she begins an affair with her gynecologist Dr. Jim Pomatter. Looking for ways out she sees a pie contest and its grand prize as her chance.
Jenna (Desi Oakley) is the star of Joe’s Pie Diner. She’s more than a waitress; she’s also the creative force behind the diner’s ever-changing menu of creative baked goods. When life becomes too stressful, she slips into a pastry-themed fantasy place where her troubles suggest their own consolations, with strawberries, chocolate, spices and various other ingredients standing in for emotions like love, lust, fear, and frustration.
I really love the song called “What's inside”.

The Book of Mormon is a musical comedy about two young Mormon missionaries who travel to Africa to preach the Mormon religion. First staged in 2011, the play mocks various Mormon beliefs and practices. The script, lyrics, and music were written by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone. The Book of Mormon follows two Mormon missionaries as they attempt to share their scriptures with the inhabitants of a remote Ugandan village. The earnest young men are challenged by the lack of interest of the locals, who are preoccupied with more pressing troubles such as AIDS, famine, and oppression from the local warlord.

I highly recommend that the beginner can choose the most classic Broadway, The Phantom of the Opera. This show actually tours to other countries, such as Taiwan. If you come to Boston or New York, that you can choose the other one, such as Cat, Aladdin, The Lion King, etc.
