My friend and I drove to the museum and spent 30 mins from Boston to Salem. Salem is a historic, coastal city in Essex County, and be known as the witch town. Salem has a lot of museums near the downtown, so you can take the train to there and walk to downtown.
We went there on February 24, 2018, and we were interested in the 4 temporal exhibitions, including PlayTime, XYZT: A Journey in 4 Dimensions & All the Flowers Are for Me. I will share some special pictures took by myself that you can try your best to take the amazing picture in the museum.
PlayTime
Turner Prize-winner Martin Creed, the PlayTime author, is the artist/musician behind the delightful pink balloon room at PEM. You can enter the balloon room to play inside, then take the pictures. The room can contain maximum 6 people, then the staff will notify you to leave after 5 minutes. It’s really the best place for the child to run and play.
Here is the content of PlayTime.

XYZT: A Journey in 4 Dimensions
XYZT is an immersive art exhibition comprised of 10 interactive virtual environments generated using math and physics models. In a darkened gallery, you use your movement and gestures to interact with light in a series of digital landscapes inspired by nature. Specific sensations, such as walking in the grass or putting your hands into the sand, are transposed into abstract, sensory encounters with lines, dots, and letters.
XYZT creators Adrien Mondot and Claire Bardainne, French artists/performers/computer scientists, describe the installations as "a journey through nature revisited." Each letter in "XYZT" identifies the movement of a point in space - horizontal (X), vertical (Y), depth (Z) and time (T).
The exhibition room is limited if you want to engage with every installation art, enter as earlier as possible. Here are some interesting pictures & videos of XYZT.
All the Flowers Are for Me
Persian and Turkish architecture, textiles and miniature paintings inspire the precise, stylized floral forms that compose Anila Quayyum Agha’s sculptural chamber of light and shadow. This luminous installation provides an opportunity to contemplate the differences and commonalities that shape our lives and relationships.
This exhibition can accommodate more than 20 people, the box is set up in the center of the room. Inside the box, the light makes the shadow shining on the wall. I take the photos for different angles that show in the picture.
After visited the PEM, we went to the restaurant near the downtown called Turner's Seafood. The seafood is really tasty and fresh. We ordered Salmon Penne (Seared Salmon, Dill Cream Sauce, and Peas) $14.50, Fried Point Judith Calamari $12, and Turner’s Clam Chowder $5. 😋
